GREECE Paxos and Antipaxos
Paxos and Antipaxos are an island of intimacy and tranquility

Worth a visit here
According to Greek mythology, these islands were created by Poseidon, the god of the sea, by striking down the southern tip of the island of Corfu with his harpoon. Paxos' little brother is just 2 km2. It is famous for its beautiful turquoise water beaches. We took a boat trip from Parga to this amazing two islands as part of an optional program. The view of the crystal clear sea and rocks was a magical experience. We first went to the island of Antipaxos, where we could swim to our liking, jump into the water or admire the beautiful scenery. After that we sailed on to Paxos.

Paxos
Paxos is 20 km2, 12 km from Corfu and 20 km from Parga. It is famous mainly for its crystal clear water, green olive groves, interesting rock formations and caves. The capital is Gaios. It is the only city on the island. Its western side is dotted with white cliffs that are home to so-called blue caves. You can also see more of these up close. (Bathing is also possible at the blue caves during the cruise) Even a larger boat can swim all the way to Ipapanti Cave. (Unfortunately, we were not taken in, but we had the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters.) During the cruise, the ship also passes the huge, straight rock called Ortholithos.

The capital of Paxos is Gaios
The capital of Paxos, with its Ion-style buildings and narrow alleys, offers an unforgettable trip. It is named after St. Gaios, a disciple of St. Paul the Apostle. He was the one who introduced the inhabitants of the island to Christianity. Most of Giaos’s sights are visible in the harbor. The slightly ruined, worn red large building was once the seat of the English government. At the end of the harbor is a statue of Yorgos Anemojanni. He was the paxos hero of the Greek war of independence against the Turks. Next to the statue is a Greek flag, under which very good pictures can be taken, making it a great favorite for tourists. In Giaos approx. You get 1.5 hours of free time. As the city is not large, we can walk around comfortably.

Antipaxos
You will find the sister island of Paxos just over two kilometers south of it. Interesting rock formations, strange arches, high cliffs and the turquoise Ionian Sea are among the holidaymakers ’favorite sea attractions. The coast of Antipaxi is full of natural wonders around the island, which are also mentioned by most of the optional programs, mainly from Parga, Syvota and Corfu many visitors arrive. Antipaxos is a rather tiny island on an area of just 5 square kilometers. Accordingly, its population is minimal, with only a hundred staying on the island on a permanent basis.
