The history of the star park
The observatory is located next to Zselickisfalud. The Zselici Star Park enriches its visitors with life-changing experiences, here we can get to know the universe around us. The Zselici Star Park was established in the area of the Zselici Landscape Protection District in 2009. In summer evenings, the Milky Way can be seen with the naked eye. The star park not only offers daytime but also nighttime programs for visitors. Here we can get to know the natural treasures of the area: the landscape, the Somogy forest and the wonders of the sky.
The park's programs
The observatory building, the observation deck, and rest areas can be found in the area of the park. Free parking is available for those arriving by car. The building of the observatory also hosts astronomical research, various exhibitions, events and evening stargazing tours are also organized here. From the lookout point you have a fantastic view of the Zselici landscape, in good weather you can even see the witness mountains of the Balaton highlands, Mecsek or even the Papuk mountains in Croatia, if you are there it is worth going up and looking around. This 25-meter-high observation deck is located at the highest point in the area, and we can get to the top via a spiral staircase.
